Our Vacation to the Dominican Republic

Joe and I went to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic for a week and had an awesome time. We went "deep sea fishing" one day which was not that fantastic because we got sick, but we did go to the capital, Santo Domingo, for a day and that was cool to see all the culture. We also went on a snorkeling excursion that involved personal speed boats. That was the best part. All in all, it was a memorable vacation and we had a great time. We had a good time practicing our Spanish too. Here is a picture of Joe on the beach of the resort we stayed at.

Hey Emily! That is where CJ went on his mission! He was really excited when he saw someone in our family went there. Did you see the temple there? We want to go there someday. I would like to see where he served. From the pictures CJ has shown me, it looks so pretty there. And didn't you just go to Spain to? Think of your poor cousin Jackie when you go on these trips. I can fit in a suit case!! Actually no, but we could try. Love you!!!

Hey Jackie and CJ! How's it shakin'? How far away are you from us? We need to have a taquito party with you guys!

So CJ, you went to the D.R. on your mission? Everyone knew we were Mormon down there. Maybe because we were tall, white, Americans who spoke Spanish. But, I am so grateful for the good missionaries down there that gave us a good reputation. Joe talked to a lot of people who had listened to the missionaries and Joe invited them to go back to church and listen again to the missionaries. It was a beautiful country. I would love to go back again. You are so lucky CJ! It would be hard to see the water and not play in it. :)

Hey Em! We live in Ventura. I don't know where you are living though! CJ loved it. He said it was hard being on a beautiful tropical island and not being able to play. So we will need to go back so he can actually play in the pretty water. We should totally have a taquito party! That would be so yummy. I better go, I am at work. I miss you! We should play.

Holy Cow!
I didn't believe it was that far away! From Ventura to my mom's it's like 2 1/2 hours away! Over 122 miles or something! From Ventura to Glendora (to Aunt Arlene's house) it's like 1 hour 28 min. away! (still 88.73 miles courtesy of Mapquest.com)

Maybe you could come down for a whole weekend!!!!! We could go to Disneyland, the beach, and have taquitos! :)

Hey Em, this is C.J. I am so jealous you went to the D.R. I loved it there. I was actually on the north side of the island though. Which if you can believe the north side is way prettier than the Santo Domingo area. One day I will take Jackie back with me to show her the D.R. We just need to plan a Saturday for us to come down to a Taquito party, because if your Taquito's are like Jane's Taquito's, I will drive there no matter the distance!!! We should plan something sometime soon. I would like to get to know the Chalk side of the family too!!!

Awesome! OK! We will plan! It's crazy what we do for those taquitos, isn't it? I think Great Grandma Cragin put some crack in her sauce or something. CJ, I am so jealous that you served there. If the east is pretty and the north is even prettier, I can't even imagine what it was like as a missionary. TORTURE! Jackie will absolutely love it. We want to go back. You'll have to tell us more about the country. It is very interesting.

So, i think this has now become OUR blog since no one else will write. :)
