Dana Point Family Day

I think I know how to post stuff now! So if this works, then whoo hoo! This was from yesterday. Since our regular taco day house (Welker's) is no longer available due to their move, we moved our family day to the beach! It is our favorite place to be (aside from Diz, am I right?) We had great food, a beautiful sunset, and Joe's hilarious Disneyland sound effects. We also saw Ashley and Sean's new new new baby boy, Parker for the first time. It was so fun to relax in such a beautiful place. Let's do this every time!

Our Vacation to the Dominican Republic

Joe and I went to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic for a week and had an awesome time. We went "deep sea fishing" one day which was not that fantastic because we got sick, but we did go to the capital, Santo Domingo, for a day and that was cool to see all the culture. We also went on a snorkeling excursion that involved personal speed boats. That was the best part. All in all, it was a memorable vacation and we had a great time. We had a good time practicing our Spanish too. Here is a picture of Joe on the beach of the resort we stayed at.

Remember I won that trip to Spain by playing "Rock, Paper, Scissors"? Here's a picture of Toledo. These are the 17 kids from my school that went. It was an awesome trip. We were able to be in "Holy Toledo" during Semana Santa/ Easter weekend. We also went to Madrid, Mijas, Consuegra, Granada, and Ronda. Toledo was my favorite!

Letter from Grandpa Roland...

It was good to see many of you this last weekend, although the circumstances were sad.

The Bishop that spoke mentioned getting letters from Grandpa Roland that would have poems, scriptures, or song lyrics in them. It made me recall that I had received just such a note while I was on my mission. I'd like to share part of it with all of you:

Choosing the right path and being faithful to your ideals will make you always a most worth-while person. Having the courage to remain steadfast under adversity is a divine characteristic. Have you heard this bit? It is entitled "Opportunity" by Edward Rowland Sill.

This I beheld, or dreamed it in a dream:--
There spread a cloud of dust along a plain;
And underneath the cloud, or in it, raged
A furious battle, and men yelled, and swords
Shocked upon swords and shields. A prince's banner
Wavered, then staggered backward, hemmed by foes.
A craven hung along the battle's edge,
And thought, "Had I a sword of keener steel--
That blue blade that the king's son bears, -- but this
Blunt thing--!" he snapped and flung it from his hand,
And lowering crept away and left the field.
Then came the king's son, wounded, sore bestead,
And weaponless, and saw the broken sword,
Hilt-buried in the dry and trodden sand,
And ran and snatched it, and with battle shout
Lifted afresh he hewed his enemy down,
And saved a great cause that heroic day.

With courage, humility, and the Holy Ghost as your constant companion, you can accomplish anything. This gives you the “Sword of Righteousness” and makes all things possible.

What's New?

Hi everybody! No one has written for a long time. I hope you all post something soon.

I will give a quick update on the Renee Hulse Fam.

Cameron is recovering from his various surgeries. He is finally out of the hospital and is at home with his beautiful wife Kathy, and baby Sadie. He is glad to be home after so many weeks in the hospital. However, he had some visitors come including cousin Adam Johnson. :)

Brian and Xochi are still in Texas. They are expecting their third baby. It is going to be a boy this time! Darcel is super excited to have a boy to pass on the HULSE name. Any suggestions of what they should name him? Marin and Santi are so excited.

Alli and Cory just moved back to Orange County from Arizona. They love being back in California. Autumn is almost 4 years old and is still expanding her extensive vocabulary. Autumn went trick-or-treating this year as Minnie Mouse. She is so cute!

Joe and I are both working in Irvine (about 15 min. from Mom's house). We are still "hanging out" at her house. We are on a waiting list for an apt in Mission Viejo. I won a free trip to Spain by playing a game of sudden-death "Rock, Paper, Scissors" with another teacher at my school. I get to go for 10 days over Spring Break. (I won with scissors!)

Laura and Michael are in their last year of school at BYU. They are both working hard and are doing great. They got a chance to go to Mexico a couple months ago and had a great time. When they got back, Laura's boss gave them a Mini Cooper to drive around in for free. She works at a diamond store. Anyone getting engaged?

Amy is counting down the days til Thanksgiving break when she gets to be out of the chilly town of Provo and be in sunny California. She is still dating Chris. Amy is working like crazy to be done with school. She will be the only Hulse to graduate from BYU in 4 years. She won a scholarship and did an intership in St. George for a week. She really enjoyed it.

Mom is working like crazy teaching at Pepperdine and counseling lots of people. She has also been working on American Grandmas stuff. She is one busy lady. She was also taking care of Cam in the hospital for a while. She never stops doing stuff.

Well, that's us. Give us an update of all of you!

We love you!
Emily and Hulse Fam

Cam's little girl

Here is Sadie, Cam's little girl. She is a riot. Anyway, Speaking of Cam, he is doing a lot better thank goodness! He is still in a lot of pain but he is moving around a lot easier and is feeling better. Thanks for all of your prayers family! Much love!

A fun trip

Well well, Jane and Terry moved Jackie and CJ down to CA about a month ago and while they were here they stopped at my mom's house and we just had a blast. Here they are at the Montage Resort in Laguna Beach. We just walked around and enjoyed ourselves talking and laughing. Then we went over to the Newport Beach Temple and that was fun too! Pictures are fun so I thought I would share them! Loves!

REUNION '07

The only thing holding everyone back from planning this reunion is the date. Once we have a date, everyone can make plans for hotels, motels or whatever. Please comment on the week (3 days) that would be best for you and your family.

Start saving your money. The earlier you book things, the better the price. The beach won't cost more than a couple bucks, the neighborhood park won't cost a dime, but Disneyland will cost a bit. You may check out the prices on the website posted below.

http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyland/en_US/home/home?name=HomePage

This will be a reunion that will not be forgotten.
